Volunteer

Volunteers are caring, selfless, and kind.

Are you interested in becoming a volunteer?
You may volunteer in many ways.

  1. Client visiting/support for Caregiver relief
  2. Board members are always needed
  3. Fundraising help for special events
  4. Office volunteering

Visiting Volunteers

Visiting Volunteers receive free training and orientation from qualified instructors.

Volunteers:

  1. are trained in the philosophy of hospice and the full range of client care activities.
  2. are evaluated as part of the training program.
  3. are assigned to clients and supervised by the Director of Client Services.
  4. may choose other important areas ie. Board of Directors, fundraising, office work, etc.

"Other Assigned Duties"

Visiting Volunteers are vital to our organizations but so are volunteers that perform other activities to support Hospice. Sitting at a client's bedside is not for everyone. There are many other ways to help.

Board of Directors Membership - meet monthly (except in July and August), assist with fundraising activities, make decisions regarding the organization.

Fundraising - volunteers are needed to solicit gifts from businesses for our Hoedown silent auction, decorate and set-up for various events, prepare our newsletter for mailing.

Office Help - volunteers are needed to help with writing tax receipts, and other office duties.

Dundas County Hospice provides full liability coverage insurance for its volunteers. Individual volunteer records and information acquired during screening are considered confidential and for the use of hospice management only.
